Maria was born in England and raised and educated in Wisconsin. Her world travels started at age 8 and continue with her Nikon camera slung around her neck.  “The challenge is being at the right place at the right time and a matter of seconds makes all the difference in the world” says Maria.

Primarily a self taught artist, aside from taking workshops in photography and painting. Maria shoots what her heart sees. "God is responsible for opening my eyes and giving me the ability to capture His creations in my photography and paintings,” she says. It was not until she retired and had the privilege of living in the pristine wilderness of the Southwest Colorado, specifically Pagosa Springs, that she found time to pursue her life long interests. Maria previously worked in scientific research, taught high school science, worked as a registered nurse, started her own wellness business and functioned as an executive vice president of a 60 year old company. Her favorite profession was being a mother of three.

Maria has competed in juried art shows and county fairs. Her prize-winning work has been featured in exhibitions in Colorado.  Her work is as DIVERSIFIED as her background. Artistic influences in her work include a famous photographer and friend, Sherman Hines. She states,” Sherman spent a few hours with me many years ago and introduced me to the luminal spirit of light” Maria says” another great influence in my work  was my mother, Grace, who taught me through example, a love and compassion for all people. As a result, I seldom go a day without gaining wisdom, energy and inspiration from those I meet along life’s way”.

Maria is currently working on a series of photographs illustrating the wonder and spirit of Gods magnificent work in the landscape, nature and people of the Southwest. One of her future goals is to publish  books of her artistic works.
